Light of the World

As Jesus walked and traveled in the land of Palestine He was the reflected Light of God. At that time, the Only reflected Light of God in the world. No one else had been born again into the Kingdom as He was. Baptised in Water, (by John in the river Jordan) and filled with the Holy Spirit (by God).

He was the only one ''born again" and the only one filled with the light of God. But after he ascended to be with the Father at the end of His mission, he left behind his baptised believers, who, on the day of Pentecost, were filled with the Holy Spirit as He had been. Always He is the Prototype.

They then become the Lights shinning in the dark places, as He had been. They became like Him. The transformation of their inner man which started with their discipleship during the 3.5 years of Jesus' ministry began in earnest.  As He was so they became. The Lights of the world.

As we live, eat and breath Jesus in our hearts, we are transformed into His image. Holy Spirit does the work in us. The more we yield and submit to His workings and teaching, the greater the reflected Light, the greater the transformation. Jesus isn't looking for ministers of glamour and glitz.  The ways and the wherefores of man were never His way, Jesus himself was very "ordinary". It was His character, His very person who was extraordinary. He did not draw attention to Himself or promote Himself in anyway. He just was. He lived His life as a submitted Son of God. And That was His attraction - why people flocked to Him.

There were of course the signs and wonders and many came to see those. But the truly discerning really saw that Jesus, in and of Himself, was different from everyone else around Him. He was the Light of the world shinning in a dark place and that is what they came to see.

If we are truly are as He is, then its not the signs and wonders we are looking for, its the character and person of Jesus who is our Light. As we become like him, it is the reflected light of Him and the Holy Spirit inside us, that WE begin to shine. And by that begin to impact the world around us.

God isn't interested in the glamour of man. He is interested in exalting the lowly and the humble, the forgotten and the despised. Become like Jesus, Christ-like and you will light up the world around you -as He did.

John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life
John 9:5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world

John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”...Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.

Matt3:16-17 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.  And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Prov 3:3-6 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
